GCP Data Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled GCP Data Engineer to join our clients dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimising data pipelines and engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role offers the opportunity to work in a regulatory environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions for visualizations and machine learning applications.

This position is based in Prague, and for the first 3-months you will need to be on-site for at least 3 days per week. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineer and process data to enable visualizations and machine learning solutions on GCP.
• Design and implement robust, efficient, and scalable data pipelines within a regulatory framework.
• Collaborate closely with business and development teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Monitor, debug, and optimise pipeline performance, including execution plans.
• Manage deployment, configuration, and processing tasks using tools like Terraform.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience in hand-coding ETL/ELT processes.
• Expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of the GCP Data Engineering and Big Data stack, particularly BigQuery.
• Proficient in scripting with Python, SQL, and GCP shell.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, performance tuning, and debugging execution plans.
• Familiarity with processing, configuration, and deployment on the GCP platform (e.g., Terraform).
• Understanding of data processing techniques for AI and machine learning models.
• Ability to navigate complex infrastructures and processes in large organisations, including interfacing with multiple cross-border teams and senior stakeholders.
